I loved the Disney series. It was the most enchanting and surreal world of fairies, beautiful princesses, charming princes, spatial castles, funny talking objects and so much more. My favourites were the quaint little cottages, with its wooden barrels and spoons, and levitating crockery! Disney’s minute and a half long trailer of Beauty and the Beast is like offering you an ice cream cone and grabbing it back, leaving you to revel on the drop that accidentally fell on your palm. No justice whatsoever, not because of anything like what the jobless trolls have been ranting on Twitter, but because the anticipation is going to be painful.
It is a classic story that people would love to see on screen, in today’s technology and production brilliance. But as is typical of the internet to vomit on any honest attempt, this trailer is also receiving a lot of bad taste. Like the accent of Lumiere the talking candle. Seems Ewan McGregor doesn’t sound French enough. Glimpses of Emma Watson as Belle has left people questioning why she wasn’t shown wearing the famous yellow gown that character graced in the 1991 Disney animation. The movie will be launched in March 2017 (can’t wait!) and stars Dan Stevens as the Beast, Emma Thompson as Mrs Potts, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth and Kevin Kline as Maurice. It will feature music from the original Beauty and the Beast composer, Alan Menken, and lyricist Tim Rice. The 1991 movie was legendary material, being the first full-length animated movie to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.
