Bang & Olufsen has unveiled a new TV called the BeoVision Harmony. Revealed at the Milan Design Week, the latest BeoVision TV takes the sculptural design of the BeoVision Eclipse to a new level with its mechanical, rotating panel speakers that partially cover the screen when not in use. On switching on the television, the transformation from its sculptural form begins with panels fanning out and the TV screen lifting upwards into the viewing position. The entire process is a sight to behold. The Beovision Harmony is designed to blend into the decor of a living space rather than sticking out. “The presence of a big screen is rarely a welcoming addition to living spaces,” said Bang & Olufsen executive vice-president of brand and markets John Mollanger. “With Beovision Harmony, we wanted to create a meaningful object for interior that reduces the visual presence of the TV and transforms it into something that people will develop an emotional attachment to.”
The grading pattern on the front of the speaker panel might look like a design feature but it is actually designed to optimize acoustic performance. The unique visual pattern is made with alternating bands of oak and aluminum. The BeoVision Harmony is also available with two-tone grey fabric and aluminum covers for those who don’t want the wood finish. The BeoVision Harmony is equipped with 7.1 surround sound decoder and can connect up to eight Beolab speakers. The television part of the setup, however, is a 77-inch LG C9 OLED screen, which LG sells for $6,999 with its own branding. The BeoVision Harmony will be available in Bang & Olufsen stores starting October 2019 with a price-tag of 18,500 euros (about $20,800).
