It’s about time that a Bugatti Veyron comes under the Barrett-Jackson hammer. A 2008 Bugatti Veyron that read 11,800 miles was quite presumably sold as the hammer came down on a bid for $700,000 (quite low for the fastest car of its time considering it was estimated to fetch as much as $1.8 million). As the winning bid was announced, the winner decided he didn’t really want the car, so he didn’t want to honor his bid after all! To avoid the eventual embarrassment, the bid was rescinded, and CEO Craig Jackson purchased the car for himself. But another phone bidder came to his rescue to save Barrett-Jackson the awkwardness and Jackson his money!
