Donald Trump’s Golf Course in Scotland took a $5 million hit while he openly cheered for Brexit! The irony of the biggest loss in its history

Donald Trump is the owner of two Scottish golf resorts and several losses. The man who was once the proud owner of the iconic Washington DC hotel can’t seem to run away from defeats; per newly-published financial accounts, the resorts reported losses of $5 million in 2021. Trump‘s Turnberry resort in Ayrshire, Scotland, registered losses to the tune of $4.5 million in pre-tax losses for 2021, while Trump International Golf Club Limited, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, reported another $853,000. The staunch supporter of Brexit once commented, “when the pound goes down, more people are coming to Turnberry, frankly.” Now he stands hoisted with his own petard as Brexit has impacted the resort’s staff.

Per the filing, “with lack of access to European staff for businesses, in general, resulting in greater demand for the individuals previously available to the resort.” Eric Trump stated, “Brexit has impacted our business as supply chains have been impacted by the availability of drivers and staff, reducing deliveries and the availability of certain product lines.” The Turnberry golf resort was purchased from a Dubai-based company in 2014. After becoming the 45th President of the United States, Trump handed over control of both courses to his sons in 2017.
