Elon Musk is back to irk netizens by taking a nine-minute flight from San Jose to San Francisco in his private jet. Gone are the days when a celebrities personal life was a subject of intrigue- it is now the whereabouts of their private jets that’s got the world spying. The 35-mile (56km) flight lasted a total of nine minutes, according to Twitter users who track the tech mogul’s movements. The richest man in the world obviously thinks of time as money, so he ditched the 40-minute drive and chose to fly for nine minutes instead. The flight that has kickstarted a debate about Musk’s carbon footprint was actually taken in the month of May.
However, that didn’t stop transit enthusiast Hayden Clarkin from tweeting, “Elon Musk took a 9-minute flight to San Francisco from San Jose, which is 5 stops on Caltrain. I literally have no words.” What followed was a number of opinions ranging from targeting billionaires to the climate crisis. One user commented, “Solutions for the climate crisis will not come from billionaires.” Another quipped, “BUT IM SUCKING ON PAPER STRAWS’ while another went all out and stated, “This should be a felony.” It looks like jack Sweeney, the teenager behind the automated tracker bot account ElonJet, will be hearing from Elon Musk soon.
Or has the incessant outrage from netizens made the Tesla boss immune to the criticism? Not only the SpaceX CEO but the jet-tracking teen hasn’t spared the Kardashian clan either. Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner were targeted by Sweeney, who unabashedly highlighted the hypocrisy of the businesswomen who, on the one hand, ask the FAA to hide their private jets from being tracked yet continue to post live pictures and videos from their planes on social media.
