Founded in 2016 by Max Vallot and Tom Daly, LA-based athletic apparel company District Vision has carved itself a niche in the eyewear and sports gear industry by making stylish yet functional products, especially running glasses. However, the brand has now forayed into high-end bicycles by introducing its latest venture: District Vision Cycling. “Eyewear is an indispensable tool for any serious cyclist and DV sunglasses have naturally found their way into the cycling world over the years,” co-founder Daly told Highsnobiety. “Many of our runners have dabbled in triathlon training or other approaches to cycling so the timing felt right to double down on the cross-pollination between the two practices.” The first product in the company’s new collection is a $30,000 Custom Titanium Touring Bicycle.
Let me remind you that Ducati’s Panigale V4 superbike starts at $24,000 and you can get the extremely capable, track-focused V4 S version of the motorcycle for $30,000. So, I don’t need to tell you that District Vision’s first bicycle is not cheap. The frame of the bike is handmade in Japan by Yoshi Nishikawa of Kualis Cycles, and it also features a custom fillet-brazed steel adventure fork and titanium stem. The bike gets disc brakes, along with an eTap groupset, a carbon fiber seat post insert, and an integrated spare spoke holder.
It also comes with a set of custom bags by Yanco in Los Angeles, California, which are constructed from a combination of Dyneema, Corudra, and X-Pac. Beyond its questionable pricing, the DV Custom Titanium Touring Bicycle’s minimalistic look, especially its bare-metal finish, looks pretty good.
