Are you excited about the Metaverse? Well, we don’t know about you but luxury brand Hermes sure is! The marquee recently filed for a trademark application covering nonfungible tokens (NFTs), cryptocurrencies, and all things digital in preparing for its foray into Web3. As per the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the trademark (which was filed on August 26, 2022) will cover downloadable software to view, store and manage virtual goods, digital collectibles, cryptocurrencies, and NFTs “for use in online worlds.”
Additionally, the brand has also filed trademarks for “retail store services featuring virtual goods” and fashion and trade shows in “online virtual, augmented or mixed reality environments” and for “providing an online marketplace for buyers and sellers of virtual goods.” This could mean that users can soon get to witness the brand’s fashion events in the Metaverse and also get an opportunity to purchase exclusive apparel and more in the form of NFTs. Much like Hermes, several luxury brands across the globe are also exploring the Metaverse and all that it has to offer.
