Inspired by nature, this 262 feet long luxury yacht concept boasts a 100 square meter lawn, a trained gardener and its very own tree of life.

If you’re a nature-loving thalassophile, then Swiss design studio – Kurt Merki Jr has something to get you excited! The marquee has unveiled a super-yacht concept that combines the best of technology in the lap of nature. Yes, that’s right! Christened ‘Symbiosis’, the biophilic concept features a ‘tree of life’ located on the exterior aft of the main deck. It stretches across the yacht’s double decks and can be selected from a variety of different options as per the owner’s needs.

The yacht further boasts a lawn of over 100 square meters that doubles as a playground, picnic space, or workout area. But the highlight is ‘The Sanctum’ which according to Merki Jr is “the holy green grail of the boat”.

The space features special herbs, spices, and vegetables that can be cultivated, maintained, and used onboard to prepare gourmet meals. Automated irrigation systems fitted on the yacht can make this possible, with a trained gardener on hand to keep the space in good condition.

For the ambitious project, Kurt Merki Jr joined hands with Axel Massmann, founder of green interior specialist company yacht-green, and Captain Glenn Dalby. Commenting on it, Massmann said, “We integrate automated watering and fertilizing systems. All suggested ideas are certainly realistic.”

Remarking further, Captain Glenn Dalby added, “Symbiosis has genuinely pioneering features and raises the bar further in the quest for the perfectly idyllic onboard environments at sea. Likely at the very top of the wish lists of those privileged clients, commissioning large build projects in the years and decades to come.”

Elaborating on the conception of the yacht, Janina Rinne, Project Manager and Architect at Kurt Merki Jr in a statement to SYT noted, “Kurt Merki realized there is something missing in the superyacht experience,” Rinne continued. “Yes, they’re beautiful and guests cruise beautiful destinations, but somehow nature is missing. Everything is either plastic, steel, aluminum, or coated wood – guests are surrounded by artificial materials. So why not introduce nature into the actual design process? This is how the symbiosis idea was conceived.”

‘Meant to be a revolution in special green features in yacht design’, the Symbiosis will come with all standard amenities such as a helipad, beach club, sauna & wellness suite, and a host of tenders and toys. She can accommodate 12 guests and twice as many crew members and will span a total of six decks with an estimated GT of 3,000.

A voyage of your dreams is in the making!
