Jaquet Droz has revealed the first of the 23 unique automatons created to pay tribute to the legendary English rock band the Rolling Stones

Swiss luxury watchmaker Jaquet Droz is synonymous with highly-complicated automatons that constantly push the boundaries of horological engineering animated scenes to life. The iconic watch brand’s latest automaton pays tribute to one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. Behold the Rolling Stones Automaton; it’s the first out of the 23 unique timepieces to retrace the world of the Rolling Stones through motion. Fitted with bespoke, customizable automatons, the timepiece is a proper collector’s item adorned with special elements that celebrate the iconic English rock band. The 43mm red gold case of the automaton houses a beautifully designed dial decorated with stunning miniature sculptures and artwork dedicated to the band.

The highly talented Jaquet Droz craftsmen have reproduced the Stones stage with handmade miniature sculptures on the center disc, which include Ronnie Wood’s Fender Strat and double stack, the minimalist drums of the late Charlie Watts, and Keith Richard’s famous five-string guitar. Furthermore, it is also decorated with six iconic albums from 1971 to the present day. Each collector of the Rolling Stones Automaton will be able to choose the covers of these albums. . They will be reproduced by hand by craftsmen on a disc capable of rotating, on demand, around the central stage. The disc can rotate for around thirty seconds and can be operated eight consecutive times thanks to the push-piece inserted in the crown, at 3 o’clock. In addition to that, the power reserve is indicated at 8 o’clock by a cam restoring the articulated arm and the diamond of a vinyl record player.

The timepiece is powered by the automatic movement Jaquet Droz caliber 2653 AT2 with silicon balance spring and pallet horns, double barrel, flat bridges, and equipped with a hand-engraved 18K red gold oscillating weight engraved with “STICKY FINGERS 1971 RSM”. On the sapphire case back, the red gold oscillating weight will be engraved with the name of the chosen album, among the 23 available, by the collector to illustrate the image under the central stage —with its release date and the name of the studio where it was recorded, leading to a unique piece duly engraved “1/1”. The automaton is delivered on a red fabric strap with Rolling Stones tongue printed patterns on rubber and secured by a folding clasp in 18K red gold. The pricing hasn’t been revealed as of yet.
