While some girls dream of growing up to become Miss Universe, all Miss Universe-s perhaps dream of growing INTO the perfect swimsuit. The pageant was originally created as a promotional event for a local swimwear company, and Yamamay seems to have gotten their latest memo loud and dazzlingly clear. The Italian swimwear and lingerie maker has collaborated with Italian Jeweler Mr. Flavio Dinacci and created the world’s first million-dollar costume with diamonds as the star feature.
Fully made in Italy, the suit mythicizes the beauty of the Miss Universe finalists with approximately 900 precious stones. With a value of almost 200 carats, emeralds, diamonds, and rubies are hand-sewn and set in white gold. “Yamamay’s mission to enhance the elegance and charm of a woman through their comfortable and premium quality collections compliments what our organization strives to do through our pageants by encouraging empowerment through self-confidence in today’s modern woman,” said Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization.
The suit, which took two full weeks of work, resulted from an agreement with the organization. Its stones stun on a background of white microfiber in the Italian flag’s colors. These colors help highlight the Made in Italy quality of the costume and the ‘A touch of Italy’ claim that Yamamay stands for. “The Miss Universe Pageant is viewed by almost 1 billion people around the world, with extraordinary brand recognition in the Asian and Pan-American markets,” said Yamamay CEO Gianluigi Cimmino. “We are very delighted by this agreement which takes the international outreach of the Yamamay brand a step further.”
