Back in September last year, Porsche’s lifestyle sub-brand, Porsche Design, announced its entry into the hotel business with a partnership with Deutsche Hospitality to create a new joint hotel brand called the Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels. Now, Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Development Fund (TDF) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Deutsche Hospitality to set up the first Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotel in the Middle East region. The MOU was signed in the presence of Ahmed Al-Khatib, minister of tourism and chairman of the board of directors of the Tourism Development Fund, and it includes the right to exclusively launch the first Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels project in the Middle East. Although, the city where the hotel will come up is yet to be announced.
TDF CEO Al-Fakhri said: “We are pleased to announce the signing of this MoU with Deutsche Hospitality, a company that blends world-class hospitality with elevated standards to attract entities to invest in, develop, and operate high-quality, iconic hotel projects in Saudi Arabia. Through this collaboration, which will result in first of its kind hospitality offerings, we continue to enhance the Kingdom’s tourism offering under the National Tourism Strategy.”
The new chain of ultra-luxurious Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels will be built upon the vast experience of Steigenberger spanning over 90 years and benefit from the design philosophy and values exclusively associated with Porsche Design. The co-branded will have at least 150 rooms, suites, and penthouses. The properties will also include a restaurant and lounge concept, exclusive meet and greet areas, and world-class health and beauty facilities, with a gym and wellness area.
Porsche Design is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. It was set up as an individual design studio by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972 to extend Porsche’s distinct design philosophy beyond the realm of automobiles into lifestyle products. The German automaker has also released a limited-edition Porsche 911 Targa GTS to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Porsche Design.
