Over the years, we have seen quite a few incidents of disgruntled car owners go to extreme lengths to voice their unhappiness with reliability issues and poor after-sales service. Be it the instance where a man in India used donkeys to pull his Jaguar in protest or a Chinese Maserati owner smashing his half a million-dollar car with a sledgehammer, things can get very ugly and embarrassing for the automakers. However, Russians definitely know how to take things up a notch. Last year, a rich Russian vlogger used a helicopter to drop his Mercedes-AMG G63 from the height of 300 meters to voice his frustration with reliability issues with the $270,000 luxury SUV. And now we have another vlogger from Russia who made a rather more dramatic statement by lighting his Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S on fire and burning it down to a crisp.
According to reports, the Russian vlogger named Mikhail Litvin has had a horrid time dealing with the Mercedes dealership from where he bought the four-door sports coupe. The Mercedes kept encountering issues ever since it rolled off the showroom and had to be taken to the dealership at least five times. However, the vlogger claims that the dealership refused to fix the problem every time, finding excuses. Out of frustration, the vlogger decided to take a drastic step to make a point and send across a message to Mercedes-Benz. Mikhail Litvin took the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S to a wet, grassy field, poured fuel on the sports coupe, and burned it down. Interestingly, the vlogger made quite a dramatic and cinematic video of the whole thing with even drone shots of the burning car. In just two days, the video uploaded on YouTube has received close to 9 million views and almost a million likes. The description, along with the video in Russian when translated to English, reads: “I have been thinking for a long time what to do with my Shark after the conflict with Mercedes. I think the idea is FIRE! That’s it… The end. I’m not a happy man.”
